I would argue that time is likely the most valuable asset that humans have. money can be earned, lost, and earned again. Time is an equal currency, it is fair, we are all given the same amount of time regardless of status, wealth, age or gender..
Once used, time is lost forever... It is impossible to regain.
In the collection ´About Time´ my primary material has been Copper. Copper reacts with air but not with water and, with the exception of a few rare isotopes, it is stable and non-radioactive. It is, along with gold, the only naturally occurring metal with a distinct colour of its own.
As with all of my works, numbers and symbols play a vital role, and in Copper this becomes increasingly clearer, as not only is copper unique, but its atomic number. is 29. The number 29 is a particularly powerful number in numerology. It signifies change, ambition and progress.
In my perspective, copper signifies life, much like when you and I meet today and again tomorrow... not much changes. now the same goes for Copper, but let's say we meet again in 10 years, Time will influence how We and the Copper Pieces evolve. our layers will alter, and our own tales will continue to emerge with years of interaction with the world around us, just as the Copper Pieces will have with the air around it. Layers and layers will be added to our tale, just as copper layers and layers will grow with time.
